Citrus crop performance and fruit quality in response to different scion-rootstock combinations

نویسندگان

چکیده

Aim of study: To address diversification citrus cultivars to increase the variety and profitability orchards adapt them environmental changes.
Area State São Paulo, a subtropical region southeastern Brazil.
Material methods: The study evaluated phenological intervals, thermal sum, vegetative productive performance, fruit quality sweet orange ‘Rubi’ (R), ‘Lue Gin Gong’ (LGG) ‘Valencia Delta Seedless’ (VDS) grafted onto 'Rangpur' lime (RL) 'Swingle' citrumelo (SC). field experiment was conducted over consecutive growing seasons 2018-2021.
Main results: duration intervals little influenced by rootstocks. harvest time approximately 245 days after anthesis (DAA) for R, 402 DAA LGG, 407 VDS, regardless rootstock. Scion RL showed larger canopy volumes greater weight, length, diameter fruits than those SC trees, combinations with were more productively efficient due lower volume. R scion cultivar presented superior yield performance colouration LGG VDS. physicochemical improved results LGG/RL, LGG/SC, VDS/RL, VDS/SC.
Research highlights: These may be useful when planning scion/rootstock new orchards, identifying dual-market industrial processing natural consumption, determining that are better adapted undesirable climatic conditions.

Different adaptation strategies of two citrus scion/rootstock combinations in response to drought stress

Scion/rootstock interaction is important for plant development and for breeding programs. In this context, polyploid rootstocks presented several advantages, mainly in relation to biotic and abiotic stresses. Here we analyzed the response to drought of two different scion/rootstock combinations presenting different polyploidy: the diploid (2x) and autotetraploid (4x) Rangpur lime (Citrus limoni...

Transcriptome Changes Associated with Boron Deficiency in Leaves of Two Citrus Scion-Rootstock Combinations

Boron (B) deficiency stress is frequently observed in citrus orchards and causes considerable loss of productivity and fruit quality. Carrizo citrange (Cc) has been reported as a rootstock more tolerant to B deficiency than Trifoliate orange (To). The 'Newhall' navel orange (Ns) performed better when grafted onto Cc (Ns/Cc) than when grafted onto To (Ns/To) under long-term B deficiency. The pre...

Citrus Scion and Rootstock, Topping Height, and Tree Spacing Affect Tree Size, Yield, Fruit Quality, and Economic Return

A factorial experiment begun in 1980 included ‘Hamlin’ and ‘Valencia’ sweet-orange scions [Citrus sinensis (L.) Osb.], and Milam lemon (C. jambhiri Lush) and Rusk citrange [C. sinensis x Poncirus trifoliata (L.) Raf.] rootstocks, tree topping heights of 3.7 and 5.5 m, between-row spacings of 4.5 and 6.0 m, and in-row spacings of 2.5 and 4.5 m. The spacing combinations provided tree densities of...

Apple endophytic microbiota of different rootstock/scion combinations suggests a genotype-specific influence

BACKGROUND High-throughput amplicon sequencing spanning conserved portions of microbial genomes (16s rRNA and ITS) was used in the present study to describe the endophytic microbiota associated with three apple varieties, "Royal Gala," "Golden Delicious," and "Honey Crisp," and two rootstocks, M.9 and M.M.111. The objectives were to (1) determine if the microbiota differs in different rootstock...
